Droupadi Murmu oath taking ceremony LIVE

At a ceremony on Monday in New Delhi's Central Hall of Parliament, Droupadi Murmu took the oath as the country's fifteenth president.

The nation's second woman and first tribal person to hold the top constitutional position is Murmu, who took her oath of office from Chief Justice of India NV Ramanna.

In the July 18 presidential elections, the former governor of Jharkhand, who stood in for the BJP-led ruling NDA

Ram Nath Kovind, whose five-year term ended on Sunday, is succeeded by her.

Ram Nath Kovind received a guard of honour from the three services at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Droupadi Murmu is currently visible in the profile picture of the President of India's Twitter account.

President Murmu said, “Johar! Namaste! I humbly greet all the countrymen from this holy Parliament, a symbol of the hopes and aspirations and rights of all the citizens of India.

Prime Minister Modi, Congresswoman Sonia Gandhi, and other dignitaries are welcomed by President Droupadi Murmu.
